Editing video with Opus 5.5 and Hyperframes: setup, one-shot prompts, and a five-step workflow

Chapters / key moments (click to jump — plays here on the page)

Every edit in this video was made by Claude Code (Opus 5.5, mostly on high effort) with Hyperframes, an open-source framework that renders HTML, CSS and animations to MP4. The workflow here is reusable: set up Hyperframes, transcribe, plan the beats, build skills, and let the agent watch its own output.

Set up Hyperframes

He gives Claude Code the repo URL and asks it to set Hyperframes up. The official README (Apache-2.0, Node ≥ 22) documents the direct install:

npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes
# agents / non-interactive: installs exactly the core set
npx hyperframes skills update

In the picker, the Core Skills group is all you need. The /hyperframes router installs each creation workflow on demand. For transcription he uses the ElevenLabs API (fast, paid per use) or local Whisper (free, slower). Ask Claude to wire up either one. For image and video generation he uses a separate provider, key.ai in his case.

How he prompts: direct the beats, describe the feeling

  • "Transcribe the video first so animations land at the exact moment."
  • "When I say Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra, animate their logos where I'm pointing, on a liquid-glass card so they're readable."
  • "When I say best outputs ever, put those three words at the bottom and highlight them."
  • "When I talk about B-roll and screenshots, actually go get a screen recording and a screenshot, so you prove it."

Opus added touches he didn't ask for, like a slow zoom-in and a Claude-style UI mock. For brand work (a YouTube showreel, a Lululemon spot) he described the emotional feel rather than every shot.

Turn a video you admire into a skill

His most reusable trick: download a reel you like, then:

Analyze this video and figure out why it's so good.
Turn that into a skill.
Now use that skill to make a showreel about <brand> — typography, colours
and design language should be unmistakably <brand>.

After each run: "In this version I liked X and didn't like Y. Update the skill." The skill improves every time. Background: how Claude skills work.

The five-step workflow

  1. Transcribe so beats land on time and the agent can find the story.
  2. Cut mistakes and dead air using the transcript.
  3. Plan the beats: the clearer "this comes in here" is, the closer the result.
  4. Use skills for anything you repeat (reels, course videos, shorts).
  5. Verification loop: let the agent screenshot and watch its own render, fix it and re-render before handing it over. You get draft five, not draft one.

His free "Hyperframes Student Kit" and showreel skill are distributed through his community, and there's a sponsor segment. Neither is needed to follow the workflow above. Earlier Hyperframes coverage: Hyperframes keyframes with a Hermes video agent.
