Meta Muse

Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, launched on 2026-09-08. You give it a goal or an errand and it works on it in the background: it can browse the web, fill in forms, send email, book and pay for things (with your approval), and come back when something changes. It runs on Meta's Muse Spark model inside a private cloud virtual machine, and is available at muse.ai, in iOS and Android apps, inside WhatsApp and, since 2026-09-18, as a Mac app.

Yes, with a weekly usage limit. Paid plans raise it: Power is $20 a month for 500 million Muse tokens a week and Max is $100 a month for 3 billion a week, according to Meta's help centre. Meta does not publish the free allowance; testers commonly report around 100 million tokens a week. You need to be 18 or over to subscribe.

Meta launched Muse in the US. As of 2026-09-25 TechCrunch reports it available in the US and Canada; Meta's help centre says Muse is in limited testing and not available in all locations. It is on the web at muse.ai, iOS, Android, WhatsApp and macOS, with Meta's AI glasses announced for the coming months.

Meta says each person's Muse runs in its own isolated Muse Secure VM, that a separate Sentinel process is the only authority for connector actions and network access, that Muse asks before sensitive actions like sending email or buying, that it cannot see your passwords or payment methods, and that conversations are not shared with Meta's ad systems. Muse is a hosted consumer product: nothing to install, one continuous chat, Meta's own model, and deep Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp integration. OpenClaw and Hermes are open-source agents you run yourself, with any model, full control over tools and memory, and access to your own machines. Muse is the easier errand-runner; self-hosted agents are for people who want control.

Yes. Meta sells the underlying Muse Spark models through the Meta Model API (https://api.meta.ai/v1, OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible) and OpenRouter at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens for muse-spark-1.3. Hermes Agent has Muse Spark as a built-in provider since v0.21.0. Avoid the cheaper contributor tier unless you accept Meta training on your prompts.
